Pollution Liability (Hazchem Insurance)
Pollution liability or Hazchem (Hazardous Chemicals) insurance is for transport businesses and transport contractors who wish to protect against risks associated with transport and ongoing industrial operations, such as Hazardous Cargo spills, fuel spills and release of toxic gases. It's a form of gap insurance, because most general liability policies exclude pollution risks. Different pollution insurance carriers offer different terms, and may exclude or charge more for risks they deem to be especially onerous.

What it Covers
Pollution liability insurance covers liability to third parties. It may also cover damage to property, such as an oil spill on a property near a road. Some policies cover legal fees for contractors who face lawsuits for pollution-related incidents, or the cost of cleaning up a site after a pollution spill.
